At Awwa Art we believe in the transformative power of art, fashion and culture. Our mission is to connect our global community with its roots and natural surroundings, inspiring a more conscious and sustainable way of life.
Awwa Art was created by artist, designer and nature lover Charlie Five to celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of the Canary Islands, especially its indigenous and ethnographic world.
Today we offer alternative, mindful travel guides so that visitors can connect with local life in a respectful and conscious way.
Our values
Indigenous heritage
The Canary Islands have a history that moves between myth and reality. Part of our ancestral culture is still hidden, dormant and unknown. Our mission is to share the beauty of that ancestral culture with the world. Our African and Berber roots enrich our Latin culture and give us a transcontinental dimension that inspires us to create.
Environment
The islands are fragile places with immense biodiversity, home to more than 15,000 species. We want the Canary Islands to become a model of environmental balance for the rest of the planet. We stand for a world in balance, where landscapes, animals and people can live together in exemplary harmony.
Creative empowerment
The Canary Islands have always been culturally isolated, and only since the nineties, with the arrival of the internet, have many island artists and creators been able to show their work. Giving artists visibility and a voice is one of the main reasons I created Awwa Art. Today Awwa Art brings together the creative talent of more than 20 people who have taken part in the project in one way or another, creating work that we have turned into T-shirts, notebooks and sweatshirts sold at more than 15 shops across the Canary Islands.

I started the Awwa Art project in 2010, hoping to take the first step towards a creative community that could help society through its designs.
Over time, Awwa Art has become a place where I can express my creative, ethical and social concerns through fashion design that celebrates Canarian culture in all its breadth.
