The adventures
Each adventure is a complete experience designed by Awwa Art. Some include a hiking trail; others take you to a beach, a guachinche (a traditional family eatery) or a local workshop. We always tell you in each adventure.
La Palma
La Zarza Adventure
A journey into La Palma’s oldest memory. In Garafía, in the north of the island, nature, history and indigenous heritage are deeply intertwined. You will walk through the laurel forest discovering the rock engravings left by the island’s first inhabitants and ethnographic features such as old wash-houses, and learn to read the symbols of a landscape inhabited for centuries. The adventure connects that ancient island with the culture, people and flavours of La Palma today.
La Galga Adventure
Much more than a trail: a journey through La Palma’s landscape, culture and local life. It starts in the green east of the island, on the route locals take to the Cubo de La Galga, and takes you beyond the path: viewpoints, traditional sweets, small producers and hidden corners of the coast. Nature, tradition and food, all part of the same trip.

Frequently asked questions
What is an Awwa Adventure?
It is a self-guided experience designed by Awwa Art to discover a corner of the Canary Islands at your own pace. Every adventure is different: it may include a hiking trail, hidden rock engravings and ethnographic features (such as old wash-houses), visits to local producers where you can buy top-quality products, a beach or a guachinche. It is 100% digital: you receive it instantly by email.
What’s included?
Your personal code, which unlocks the digital guide with every stop, its GPS location, photos and stories, and the local story as a PDF: an original tale written by a local author, in your language. Everything arrives instantly by email.
How do I unlock the digital adventure?
Scan the QR code in your Adventure Book or go to awwaart.com/unlock and enter your activation code and email address. If you bought it online, the code appears on the order confirmation and in your purchase email, with a button to start straight away. The adventure is linked to your email and opens on your phone instantly.
Can I use the adventure on several phones?
Yes. Enter the same code with the same email on each device. The code only works with the email it was first activated with.
Does the code expire?
No. Once activated, the code never expires: you can come back to the adventure whenever you like, on all your devices, with the same email.
Do I need a car?
Yes, for most adventures a car is essential. You drive between the stops (winery, pastry shop, beach, guachinche…) and, if the adventure includes a hiking trail, you drive to the starting point, do the walk and return to the car.
How long does each adventure take and how hard is it?
Each adventure is designed to be enjoyed in one day. If it includes a hiking trail, each adventure page shows its difficulty, distance and duration. La Galga (La Palma) includes a moderate loop with ups and downs throughout, about 2–3 kilometres and 2 hours; the full adventure covers about 10–15 kilometres by car. La Zarza (La Palma) includes an easy walk of about 5 kilometres and two and a half hours, plus visits to local producers.
What should I wear?
Comfortable walking shoes, water, a cap and sunscreen, a warm layer (the weather changes fast in the north of the islands), a swimsuit if the adventure includes a beach or natural pools, and a charged phone.
Is it suitable for children?
The trails in our adventures are designed for adults with a basic level of fitness, able to walk about 5 kilometres and two hours of gentle hiking. We are preparing adventures especially for children.
Do I need an internet connection during the adventure?
You need a connection to activate the code. Coverage on La Palma is patchy in many areas, so we recommend activating the adventure before you set off, on wifi, leaving the guide open on your phone and downloading the area map in Google Maps to use offline.
Which languages is it available in?
Spanish, English and German.
When do I get it?
Instantly: as soon as you buy, you receive your code and the local story as a PDF by email. We don’t send anything on paper.
Can I give an adventure as a gift?
Yes. The activation code is linked to the email of whoever enters it first, so you can forward your code to anyone you like.
Are the routes safe?
The routes follow well-known paths and trails, but you explore on your own and at your own risk. Follow the signs, don’t swim in the sea if there are waves and, if you are tasting wine at the winery, let someone else drive.
What if my code doesn’t work?
Check you are typing it exactly as it appears in your Adventure Book or purchase email (the letters I, L and O are never used, so they can’t be confused with numbers). If it still doesn’t work, write to us at adventures@awwaart.com with a photo of the code or your order number.
