I started the Awwa Art project in 2010, hoping to take the first step towards a creative community that could help drive social change through its designs.

Over time, Awwa Art has become a place where I can express my creative, ethical and social concerns through fashion design that celebrates Canarian culture in all its breadth.

For some time now I have been convinced that creatives need to empower ourselves, that is, to be able to share with society our creative and ideological points of view on what is happening and on the world we live in.

There are also many values embedded in the cultures of every people that never quite come to light because they are of no economic interest.

That is why the task of a creative committed to their time must be to bring to light the aspects that remain silenced in their cultural context. In that sense, Canarian culture offers many of those values. Over the last ten years my work has been to make some of them visible through this project called Awwa Art.

BACKGROUND

I studied Fine Arts in Tenerife. I love graphic design and illustration, the world, ravines, sunrises, Julio Cortázar, David Lynch, Neruda, indie cinema, King Crimson and respect for life, people and nature.

Seres Vivientes (Living Beings), artwork

Seres Vivientes (ink on paper, 2010–2015) was my first serious body of work, in which I began to explore my relationship with my surroundings, the idea of identity and my metaphysical view of nature.

Binary Structures and Labyrinths

I presented my second art project at the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife in 2015: a series of random geometric structures representing binary structures and labyrinths, a world of secret words and metaphors that reveal the contemporary world we live in.

Encuentros con Luis Palmero, documentary

In 2020 I shot my first documentary, about the painter Luis Palmero Samarín (Tenerife), called “Encuentros con Luis Palmero” with the filmmaker Pablo Vilas Delgado. In this documentary we get to know the painter through his relationship with figures such as Carlos Pinto, Andrés Sánchez Robayna, Manolo Ojeda and Juan Manuel Bonet, on a journey through the recent history of contemporary art in the Canary Islands. Unreleased documentary.

Ñameland

“Ñameland, recuerdos de infancia” (Ñameland, childhood memories) is my first literary work, in which I share my view of the world through everyday stories and anecdotes from my youth in the north of La Palma.

Digital art, pixel art and crypto art

Over the last two years I have kept developing my artwork, creating the NFT Canarias project and becoming one of the first artists in the Canary Islands to mint their work on the blockchain. You can see my artwork here.
