The trail passes about 1.5 km from El Tendal / Charco Azul, where this adventure takes place.
From El Tendal to San Andrés on foot, a swim in the Charco Azul and lunch by the sea in Puerto Espíndola. Guided on your phone. Free: all you need is your email.
Plenty of water, food, warm clothes, a rain jacket, a hat and sun cream, hiking boots and a charged phone. Check the weather and tell someone your route. The route climbs to 1546 m and it gets chilly up there: take a sweatshirt too. And if you want to wear La Palma, our island T-shirts.
Experts only!. In case of bad weather, please avoid it. You yourself are responsible for you own individual safety.
By road; public transport is non-existent.
Any time of year, but the route should be absolutely avoided in rain (if in doubt, seek advice at the Visitor Centre).
This route lends itself to different combinations. The most common one of all is to reach Casa del Monte (14km-long dirt track) by hiring the services of a 4WD taxi and then descend to the Visitor Centre. Another much frequented hike departs from the Visitor Centre and reaches the springs, returning the same way or coming out at Casa del Monte. Finally, there are those who walk the entire path, either departing from Los Sauces, or from the Visitor Centre. A previous check on height differences and times involved will enable the most convenient choice to be made. Carry a torch (extremely useful) and something waterproof for traversing the tunnels.
