Before you go
- The path has no serious difficulties. In mist, two points can cause problems: the start of the route, in the vicinity of Refugio de El Pilar, and the Llanos del Jable zone. If the path is lost, walk back to where it can be picked up again and then watch closely for the painted marks.
- After heavy rain, take care on the steepest sections and below cliffs: there may be damage to the trail.
- By private vehicle or taxi.
- All year round.
- The easiest way to walk this path is as described here, downhill to El Paso. However, it acquires an added dimension when done in the opposite direction, by providing access from the town to a large number of other paths.
- Protected area: Parque Natural de Cumbre Vieja
