What to take on this route
Plenty of water, food, warm clothes, a rain jacket, a hat and sun cream, hiking boots and a charged phone. Check the weather and tell someone your route. The route climbs to 1817 m and it gets chilly up there: take a sweatshirt too. And if you want to wear La Palma, our island T-shirts.

Before you go
- None worthy of mention; avoid approaching the edge of the cliff too closely.
- After heavy rain, take care on the steepest sections and below cliffs: there may be damage to the trail.
- All year round.
- Although the path is signposted from its junction with the PR LP 1, not far from the Visitor Centre, most hikers begin walking from the end of the forest track. An interesting option for those keen on lengthening the hike is the PR LP 14 path, which passes very close to the previously mentioned Centre, and can be taken either from El Paso or the Refugio de El Pilar leisure area. Beware on very dry, hot days: if fire breaks out in the pine forest, a very seldom occurrence, hikers can be trapped.
