Plenty of water, food, warm clothes, a rain jacket, a hat and sun cream, hiking boots and a charged phone. Check the weather and tell someone your route. The route climbs to 1004 m and it gets chilly up there: take a sweatshirt too. And if you want to wear La Palma, our island T-shirts.
After heavy rain, take care on the steepest sections and below cliffs: there may be damage to the trail.
This is a circular route.
Any time of year except during periods of heavy rain.
Assessment of the water levels at Caldera del Agua is very simple: if there is a stream flowing through the tunnel passing beneath the road at La Zarza, at the start of the hike, it is advisable to abstain from doing the route. In such cases, the nearby PR LP 9.1 path is a good alternative. Even if there is only a small amount of water, expect to get wet feet, at the very least.
