What to take on this route
Plenty of water, food, warm clothes, a rain jacket, a hat and sun cream, hiking boots and a charged phone. Check the weather and tell someone your route. The route climbs to 1969 m and it gets chilly up there: take a sweatshirt too. And if you want to wear La Palma, our island T-shirts.

Before you go
- The considerable height difference involved is the main obstacle; the path itself is clear, well-maintained and marked.
- After heavy rain, take care on the steepest sections and below cliffs: there may be damage to the trail.
- Public transport is non-existent, so a private vehicle or taxi is required.
- All year round.
- As in the case of the PR LP 3 which it closely resembles, a large height difference is involved entailing a certain amount of exertion. Perhaps for that reason it is usually walked these days in a downhill direction. The hike is rather incomplete without ascending Pico de la Nieve.
- Protected area: Parque Natural de Las Nieves
